Fabric Strip Sets
We are going to be making 3 different strip sets. Each set will consist of three different strips. This is where it gets fun and you can mix and match strips.
1- You will need 2- A strips and 1- B strip. Lay them out A-B-A. (C)
2- You will need 2- B strips and 1- A strip. Lay them out B-A-B. (D)
3- You will need 2- A strips and 1- B strip. Lay them out A-B-A. (E)
Sew each strip set together along the long edges. Press towards the A fabric.
Take your first strip set and lay it on your cutting mat so it’s straight along the lines of one of your mat.
Take the next one and lay it out on top, offsetting it just enough the seams aren’t right on top of each other. Make sure youare laying it along the lines on the mat also.
Lay the third one, once again, on top of the third one, offsetting it as well.
Trim off the salvage edges so you’re starting with a nice clean edge.
Cut through all three groups and cut them into 2 1/2″ wide. Cut them all the way down your strip sets.
Each set of 2 1/2″ Wide strips is going to create one 9-Patch. (You should have 1-C, 1-D, and 1-E that measures 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.)
Take C, D, and E and lay them out like shown.
Sew them together pressing towards C and E. Because of the way we ironed the strip sets, they should nest beautifully together.
Press flat and trim to 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″.

From each strip set you should get 16 9-Patches.
When you go to make your second and third strip sets, you can change the layout of your colored strips so they are different or you could make them all look the same.
At the end you want to have 49- 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ 9-Patches.
9-Patch Quilt
It’s time to lay out your quilt.
The quilt will be laid out in a row-by-row fashion.
The first row should start with F and alternate F with your 9-patch all the way across until you have 9 in a row. (Row 1)
The second row should start with a 9-patch and then alternate between 9-patch and F. All the way across until you 9 blocks. (Row 2)

Alternate Row 1 and Row 2 all the way down until you have 11 rows and you’re ending with Row 1.
Sew each row together pressing towards F.
Then sew all the rows together. Give your quilt a good press and send it off to the longarmer.
Finished size: 54 1/2″ x 66 1/2″.

Finishing Your Quilt
Pick out your quilt back and batting and either quilt on your home machine or send it to the long-arm quilter.
Bind your quilt and the snuggle underneath it!
