    • Cut 4- 2 1/2″ Square (H)
    • Cut 4- 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ (I)

Quarter-Square Triangles

Using A and E make a Quarter Square Triangle, using the 2-Color Quarter Square Triangle method(QST).

Trim to 4 1/2″. Save the second one for another time.

No-Waste Flying Geese

Using B and 4- F, make 4 Flying Geese using the No-Waste Flying Geese method. Trim to 2 ½” x 4 ½”

Sew C onto each one like the below. Press towards C. Trim to 4 1/2″ Square.

Half-Square Triangle

Using D and G, use the 2-at-a-time Half-Square Triangle method (HST), and make 4 HST. Trim to 2 1/2″ Square.

Sew H and I onto the HST to create the corner units like below. Trim to 4 1/2″ square.

Build Your Block

Start by laying out your block.

The corner units should have the HST facing out toward the edge corners and contrast fabric should be against the center QST unit.

Sew rows together. Press top and bottom rows toward Corner Units and middle row toward the QST.

Sew top and bottom rows to the center row and press toward the top and bottom rows.

Trim to 12 1/2″ x 12 1/2″.

Change Up the Colors

I wanted to show you this quilt block in a different color way so you can see how it would look if you set it up differently.

I made a few changes. The quarter square triangle in the middle is two color, not background fabric. Also, with the half square triangles, I gave it a color as well instead of using background fabric.

(Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the cut pieces.

Follow the same instructions above, the pieces are all lettered the same, and you will get this beautiful block. This one isn’t my favorite, but it could be just my color choice. What do you think?

I’m excited to see how they turn out, so if you want to find me over on IG at @ashley_sunnymade you can tag me in your post.

Have a great week and happy sewing!
