Last Blocks: Made in the USA by the Tipsy Needle

posted in: Last Blocks, Quilting | 0

Hello Friends!

I have another quilt to share with youl This one is by The Tipsy Needle! I saw it, and I just loved it, and then I had to find the perfect fabric for it.

I am using American Gatherings III by Primitive Gathering. It called for a medium blue print, but I used and Dark Blue and White one.

Tip Time

In this quilt pattern, there’s a lot of stitch-n-flip corners.

When I’m tackling stitch-n-flip, I sew along the line.

I iron it open so it’s lining up with the edge of the quilt piece.

Then I go back and trim off the extra pieces behind.

My other tip…. make sure to always give it a good pressing after each step in the process.

For the star block, I tackled each element of the block, getting them all trimmed up before I put the star together.

Thoughts

This was a fun pattern.

The flag block is quick and easy, but the star block requires several steps.

You will need to know how to make HST, QST, and Flying geese.

If you need help with making the double flying geese, I made a video and blog post on how she did these ones specifically from quarter-square triangles. You can find it here.

The quilt pattern was well written and thought out. I needed to create 13 star blocks and 12 flag blocks.
